Tips

Corrective Action

My ankles swell up when I sit at my desk.

This may the result of decreased return of fluids out of your legs and feet. The causes can be varied. Refer to TIPS for some suggestions.

HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE ANY ADDITIONAL CONCERNS PLEASE CONTACT YOUR PERSONAL PHYSICIAN.

Foot Support

Lack of adequate foot support can lead to swelling of ankles. Check out Feet Don't Touch Floor.

Feet in Dependent Position

A dependent position means the feet are at a lower position than the heart. Adjusting your chair to the semi-reclined position with your feet up on a footrest can help alleviate swollen ankles.

Based on your situation make the modification that makes the most sense to you.
