Chair

Problem

Tips

Corrective Action

I have heard about people using large exercise balls for office chairs and wonder if this would be helpful for me.

Take a look at the Chair Guide to learn more the critical elements of good seating techniques.

From a treatment and rehabilitation standpoint the exercise balls are valuable therapeutically. When well supervised with controlled time limits the balls can help to improve trunk muscle strength and coordination.

However, the bottom line is that for use as a full time office chair the large exercise ball lacks stable support for the body. When truck muscle fatigue sets in a slumped posture occurs with the result of increased stress into the back and body in general.
