Tips

Corrective Action

I wear bifocals/trifocals and I tip my head back to see my computer monitor.

This head and neck position is classic. It results in discomfort for the neck and shoulders as well as for the eyes.

Reposition monitor

See if you can reposition your monitor to a height that allows you to look through the correct part of lens with your head and neck in neutral:

Quick Tip If your monitor is positioned on your computer case, a monitor riser or the laptop docking station reposition it to place it directly on the worksurface.

Computer glasses

Another option is to obtain a prescription for computer glasses.

Worn only at the computer, they are set for the typical computer screen viewing distance of arm's length (24 to 28".)

Reposition monitor.

Obtain computer glasses.
